    Pioneer Tunnel Coal Mine

    The Pioneer Tunnel Coal Mine originally operated up until 1931. Dug into the side of Mahanoy Mountain, it supplied rich anthracite coal to the area. Tours of the mine shafts are given on a working narrow-gauge railroad, as well as a tour around the mountain.

    Mifflinburg Buggy Museum

    A former buggy factory from the 19th century, this building is in pristine condition and reveals a look at manufacturing facilities of the day. Tools, assembly lines and other artifacts of the period are on display, with demonstrations or the equipment running frequently.

    Packwood House Museum

    One of the oldest buildings in Pennsylvania is the Packwood House Museum. Originally a hotel until 1886, the building served travelers in the Susquehanna Valley area. This museum has a collection of quilts, glass, ceramics, textiles, furniture, paintings, Pennsylvania German decorative arts and Oriental art.

    Depreciation Lands Museum

    On the grounds of the Depreciation Lands Museum, find a number of historic buildings and replicated structures from the pioneer days. Included in these buildings is a replica of a one-room schoolhouse from the 1850s, a blacksmith shop, a wagon house with tools and a Conestoga wagon, a log cabin containing pioneer artifacts and an old church.
